Is/Was Michael Jordan the most 'EFFICIENT' scorer in NBA HISTORY?

I really do think so. Why?

He won a scoring title every year that he won a NBA Championship.

1991 Scoring Champ - 1991 NBA Champion

1992 Scoring Champ - 1992 NBA Champion

1993 Scoring Champ - 1993 NBA Champion

1996 Scoring Champ - 1996 NBA Champion -1996 72-10 record

1997 Scoring Champ - 1997 NBA Champion

1998 Scoring Champ - 1998 NBA Champion

His scoring resulted winning!

33.4 ppg playoff career average (the record)

33.6 ppg NBA Finals career average (the record) Results 6-0

41.0 ppg in a single Finals series (the record)

35 Points in a single half of a Finals game (the record)

Six 3's made in a single half of a Finals game (the record)

5,987 career play-off points (the record)

The most 50 point playoff games (8)

The most 40 point playoff games (38)

The most 30 point playoff games (109)

The most 20 point playoff games (174)

Anyways, MJ won more then any other great scorer. His efficient scoring resulted him to 6 NBA Titles %26amp; a 72-10 season record.

Is/Was Michael Jordan the most 'EFFICIENT' scorer in NBA HISTORY?www.nba.com

heck yeah he is definatley my favorite player!!!!!!!

Is/Was Michael Jordan the most 'EFFICIENT' scorer in NBA HISTORY?basketball jerseys ,nba teams

Yes, he is the most "efficient" scorer in NBA history. Kobe Bryant is the most prolific.
That is debatable, what is not debatable is that

His will to Win was unprecedented,

it is also not debatable that...

KOBE SUCKS!!!!!
it was wilt chamberlain!....100 is not enough for you?
most efficient as a guard I believe.Wilt was probably the efficient

scorer. When he had 13.8 PPG at the end of one of his season,he managed it with %72.8 FG(highest ever)
I think efficient means that you shoot at a high %, i think wilt has a better % than anyone in the history.
If you ask me who is the better player, I would say its Michael Jordan. And he's not just better than Wilt, he is also the greatest basketball player EVER (Yeah jordan Rulez)!!!

But if you ask me who is more efficient in scoring, I would have to say Wilt just because Wilts FG% is 60%-70% accurate/efficient while Jordan is just 50% (at his peak). But Wilt is a center so he is expected to have better-looking shots (near the rim) while Jordan is a great shooting guard that can shoot from anywhere...
Michael Jordan was a ridiculously good basketball player, shooting .497 over his career and averaging 30 PPG. For a guard, that's a very high field goal percentage.

But "most efficient?" Probably not. Artis Gilmore played 17 seasons in the ABA and NBA and averaged 18.8 PPG with a sick .599 FG%. He was a center, who average much higher FG%s, but if we're talking the most efficient ever he deserves some mention.
Get off his nuts!! Wilt was more effecient! you're an idiot!
even though kobe is my favorite player, but i have to go with Wilt........

although kwame brown is the best player in the league, don't forget that!

KING SUCK!

KOBE BRYANT RULES!
MICHAEL JORDAN SUCKS ITS ALL ABOUT KOBE!!
yes because he scores when they were leading or trailing

Who is the greatest defender in NBA history?

I personally think that it is Hakeem Olajawan

Who is the greatest defender in NBA history?nba playoff

Bill Russell followed by Hakeem Olajuwon and Dikembe Mutombo. Not many centers can contain a Wilt Chamberlin and Bill managed to slow him down throughout his career. Hakeem leads the NBA in all-time blocks and is # 7 in career steals. The Dream was able to contain centers like David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, and Shaquille O'Neal. Both players were undersized (under 7 foot) centers but were smart enough defenders to know how to move them feet, anticipate when to jump up to block a shot, and not fall for easy pump fakes. Russell and Olajuwon were the premier defender during their time.

Who is the greatest defender in NBA history?nba stats ,nba teams

Hakeem Olajuwon is the guy! If he doesn't block shots, he alters shots. a pick-pocket as well. the best on the low post. a great intimidating presence...great anchor on defense!!!

other notables : Bill Russell; GP; Big Ben; The Worm (can guard all 5 spots); Bowen; Michael Jordan; Kareem
Bill Russell. I know Wilt dropped a lot of points on him back in the day, but he made sure no one else got off.
Bill Russel hands down...dude won 8 straight titles in the 60s with Wilt in his prime!

He was the only one who could come close to containing Wilt Chamberlain...no one in NBA history can say they can do that

If they had kept stats of blocks and steals back then when Wilt and Rusell were playing i bet he would be the all time leader in blocks/blocks per game and steals/steals per game...dude was a beast defensively
Big Ben Wallace, in his prime
Ron Artest.
Jerry West was on the all- defensive team like 12 times! Walt Frazier, Bobby Jones, Kevin McHale.
those dirty *** spurs players who make people who take a jump shot land on their feet to mess up their ankles.....see it on youtube with bruce bowen injuring steve francis.....they get away with it and win championships from it....i'd say that's nba history if you win a championship from cheap shot defense
Some come to mind:

1 Hakeem Olajawan

2 Dikembe Mutombo

3 Bill Russell

4 Wilt Chamberlain

4 Ben Wallace

Of these five, I'd have have to agree with you; Hakeem the Dream is the greastest. He's the all time leader in blocks, top ten in pts, rebs, stls, defensive player of the year, ect.
the center is hakeem alajawon, forward bill rusell and forrward dennis rodman guard michael jordan and guard a. tomas
dennis rodman
Dennis Rodman(2 defensive player of the year)

MJ (1 defensive player of the year)

Scottie

* all 3 can defend any position (MJ can't defend center)
Hakeem Olajawan is just about the best post man not just defensivly he was good in all ways. he won best defensive player back to back years. and won mvp in 1994. he is the greastest defensive player ever.
There are four that stand out to me, I would not like to rank them.

Bill Russel, Scottie Pippen, Hakeem Olajuwan and Michael Jordan

Others would be Bobby Jones, Gary Payton (the one part of his game that was not over-rated), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Joe Dumars and Walt Frazier.

Did not really see a lot of Russel but still would go with him in the post and Pippen on the wing, I guess Payton on point guards.
Kevin McHale (Celts)
Wayne Gretzky!!!
For me it's John Stockton...

runner-ups:

Gary Payton and Michael Jordan
i would have to go with the glove gary payton, but you can make a great argument for ben wallace, dikembe mutumbo or hakeem.
hakeem olajawan
hard to judge across positions-

Russell at center

Rodman and forward

GP or maybe Moncrief at guard
Gary Payton and his mouth.
Either Dennis Rodman or Bruce Bowen.
Jordan...he not only dominated the game at the offensive end, he dominated the game at the defensive end as well.
I'd say it's between Hakeem and Russell. Not too many people had a presence like they did on the defensive end of the court.
Hakeem, Bill Russell, and Michael Jordan.
i agree with the Dream-Shake as number 1, cuz he's @ #1 in blocks...right? but all-around...Bill Russell..yeah...his 11 titles with Boston are huge...but know that the first year the NBA All-Defense teams were introduced...he was the first nominated...and it was the last year he played...jordan was big on D, but i still think russell was the best overall...btw...KING if u read this...tha guy ur tryin 2 clown on was right...eight STRAIGHt...that means CONSECUTIVE..ur the idiot...u need to kno wut ur talkin about BEFORE u yap...they won the rest later...that makes 11...

If all the great players in NBA history played togther for one season in their teams, which team wil

Assuming all players are at their prime, and they may play for any team they have been part of.

Bulls? Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Sloan, Gordon, Wallace

Lakers? Magic, Kareem, Kobe, Shaq, West, Chamberlain, West..

Celtics? Bird, Mchale, Walton, Russell, Cousy, Pierce, Garnett, Allen..

Spurs? Gervin, Robinson, Duncan, Parker, Ginobilli

Or Pistons? Rockets? Knicks? Sixers? Phoenix? ......and the rest

Who will win MVP?

Which teams will play in the Finals?

If all the great players in NBA history played togther for one season in their teams, which team will win?nba 2k7

Team that will meet in the Finals: Celtics %26amp; Lakers.

Sorry Bulls fan but hey i'm a big Bulls fan too but when I look at the line-up of Boston %26amp; LA, that's awesome man.

Lakers: They have 3 of the Top 5 Centers of all time and that's frightening. Abdul Jabbar at center, Chamberlain at power forward, Kobe was converted to 3-spot, West at shooting guard and Magic at the point plus Shaq is the 6th man. He will replace either Kareem or Wilt. Then other bench player coming in are Elgin Baylor, James Worthy, Vlade Divac, Eddie Jones, Byron Scott, Lamar Odom. That surely rock.

Celtics: With Russell, Walton, McHale, Garnett, Robert Parish, %26amp; Dave Cowens, they have capable bodies to match-up with the LA mastodons. Plus they have a bunch of shooters like Bird, Pierce, Allen, Ainge, Cousy, Reggie Lewis that makes the opponents guessing who willl be covered defensively?

Bulls: They have the best sets of wingmen and they have MJ but their problem is their big men. They have defensive minded forward like Grant, Rodman but they will have problems matching up with the Lakers-Celtics big men. And their centers (Cartwright, Longley, Corzine, Wallace) are not in the level of a Wilt, Shaq, Kareem, Russell or Walton.

MVP: Wilt Chamberlain (Lakers in 6). He will dominate the big men of Celtics.

If all the great players in NBA history played togther for one season in their teams, which team will win?nba rules ,nba teams

lakers.. coz they have wilt, magic, kareem, west and kobe. forget shaq! my second choice would be the bulls.
Bulls.MJ at his prime is going to steer bulls to victory...and of course the MVP would also go to His Airness oh ya
Lakers will win against Celtics...
Celtics would knock the Bulls out in the first round

Phoenix wouldn't even make the playoffs.

Wilt would be a 76er AND a Laker.

The All Time Lakers would beat the All Time Celtics in the finals.... I think... now THERE'S a final we can all get excited about! Beats the heck out of Cleveland/San Antonio
Lakers would win over the Celtics. Wilt would be the MVP.
Celtics would win over the Lakers in the Finals.
Here's what will happen...

Eastern Conf.

The Celtics will face the Pistons in the 2nd round, while Bulls squares off with the Knicks. The Celtics will be too much for the Pistons and Bird will carry the team past Detroit in 6 Games. The Knicks will win games 1%26amp;2 leaded by Ewing but Bull's Jordan will rally to comeback and win 4 straight wins. The Celts and Bulls in the East Finals will be a grudge match leading up to a game 7. Jordan will hit the game-winning shot in the last second and score his 69th point of the game to carry the Bulls to the NBA Finals.

Western Conf.

The Showtime Lakers will face Duncan's Spurs. While the Rockets (Hakeem, Yao, Mutombo, Clyde, Barkley, Tmac) will meet Utah's (Malone, Stockton, Boozer, Deron). The Lakers have too much fire power (Kobe, West, Magic) and will be too big (Shaq, Wilt, Hakeem) for Spurs, but it will be Fisher's 0.4sec 3ptr that will steer the LA past San Antonio in 7. The Rockets too will have too much fire power and will be too big inside for the Utah jazz. The Rockets will win in 5 games. Karl Malone who badly wants to win a ring suddenly finds himself in a Lakers uniform along with Payton. The Lakers, now loaded with Hall of Famers challenge the equally starred Rockets in the West Finals. Houston will win game 1 and Shaq will be benched in the next game because of he wasn't able to guard The Dream. But lighting strikes down on the Houston a Tmac injures his back and Yao breaks his leg. The Lakers will win in 5 with Wilt scoring 100 points on the last game, averaging 50 pts in the series. Frustrated Barkley comtemplates on a possible change of team. Young Kobe and the Lakers moves on the NBA Finals. Jack Nicholson is the happiest man in the LA.

NBA Finals

Just before the start of the Finals. Michael Jordan decides to retire #23 and the Bulls will be helpless. The Lakers will easy beat them in game 1. Jabar scores 40 points all and hook shots coming off no-looks passes from Magic. Then a certain #45 comes to the Bulls rescue in Game 2 but they will still loose after a potential game-winning basket that rimmed out on the last second, and #45 changes to #23 after. The Lakers now seems unbeatable, but the two Bulls losses is a thing of the past and Chicago rallies to win 3 straight victories. To the Lakers dismay Kareem injures his leg. Suddenly Dynasty Lakers felt vulnerable when egos collide and team spirit evaporates. Kobe decide he wants to take over and scores 50 points on 45 attemps. But the Bulls will emerge victorious behind Jordan inspired flu-game with the help of his ever dependable sidekick Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson's genius. Jordan will hit the Game 6 winner on a off-the-drible fall-away-jumper with-a-little-push to the defender shot. The series will be remebered as an all-time classic. Magic will average 20 assists throughout the playoffs, Steve Kerr gets his ring so Robert Horry has to wait. Jordan wins another ring and will also be the MVP. And the whole balketball world celebrates.

Phew, that was fun!
BULLS....Jordan as MVP
Chicago Bulls
Michael Jordan and the Bulls. They have the best record in the league.
Chicago Bulls and L.A. Lakers would be the two teams in the finals. The Bulls would win, and the MVP would be Michael Jordan.
You said Michael Jordan is in his prime... I don't know because of that. Michael Jordan in his prime was nearly enough to cancel out two of these other greats.

In NBA history, who's holding the record for most games missed due to an injury?

Total of games missed, and follow-up question, who's player played the shortest NBA career due to an injury?

In NBA history, who's holding the record for most games missed due to an injury?nba hoops

Sam Bowie has the record. He missed 391 regular season games out of a possible 902 (43.3%).

Grant Hill has missed 314 regular season games out of a possible 929 (33.8%).

Chris Webber has missed around 300 out of a possible 1100.

Len Bias died 2 days after being drafted by the Celtics in 1986 but technically he doesn't actually have a career because he didn't sign a contract or play any games.

Jay Williams played 75 games in 1 season before suffering what seems to have been a career ending motorcycle injury given that he hasn't played since.

Shaun Livingstone has played 145 games in 3 seasons.

In NBA history, who's holding the record for most games missed due to an injury?nba 2k7 ,nba teams

It is not Bill Walton?? He missed 30 or 40 games every year (except 85-86 with the Celtics) and more than two full seasons with the Clippers. Report It

Most people would jokingly say Grant Hill, but the record I believe belongs to none other then the guy taken over MJ in the 1984 draft, Sam Bowie! (Percentage wise)
Probaly Grant Hill or Reggie Lewis, he was good but he later died.
ima go on a wild one hear based on instinct... but for a career wise..... i would have to say Grant hill for the first one

ima honestly go with Shaun Livingston (even though i'm probly wrong)
Tim Hardaway
Has to be Grant Hill. NO idea on other Q...
What about Jonathan Bender. Remeber him, he used to play for the Pacers and had to retire because of his shocking bad knee. Poor thing, wonder whats he doing now?
grant hill.

the other question, my answer is sam bowie the guy portland picked instead of Jordan
i don't know, but Marcus Camby aka Mr. Glass is probaly going to break that record.

him or Larry Hughes.

Bill Russell's career was relatively injury free (at least to the point that injuries prevented him from playing). After joining the team in mid-season in 1956-57 (after winning an Olympic Gold Medal)he played:

1958 / 69 (of 72 team games)

1959 / 70 (of 75)

1960 / 74 (of 75)

1961 / 78 (of 79)

1962 / 76 (of 80)

1963 / 78 (of 80)

1964 / 78 (of 80)

1965 / 78 (of 80)

1966 / 78 (of 80)

1967 / 81 (of 81)

1968 / 78 (of 82)

1969 / 77 (of 82)

Russell (who was also player/coach) took four games off toward the end of the 1969 season in order to rest up and prepare for the playoffs.

During the last 12 years of his career, Russell played 915 out of 945 games, missing only 31 games in those 12 seasons, an average of 2.5 games/year.

When Russell did get injured, he did not allow the injuries to stop him from taking the court anyway.

Tim Duncan had a great start to his career, but played fewer than 70 games in both 2004 and 2005.

Wilt's only major injury was when he tore his knee up early in the 1969-70 season. He only played 12 games, but returned for the playoffs and led the Lakers to game 7 of the finals, losing to the Knicks. He also missed a few games here and there, many times the result of having teeth knocked out.

BTW - an above answer is close on Tayshaun Prince... after appearing in 42 games as a rookie, he played every game for the next three full seasons (2004, 2005 and 2006) and started all but two games during those three years. And, Prince has not missed a game this year, either.

A look at some random box scores from Prince's rookie season indicate that the games he missed were a result of a coach's decision, and not because of injury...Good job by Roadrunner to point out Prince!

In NBA history, is there any player who hasn't had any injury at all and had a great career?nba video ,nba teams

yeah,a rookie who only played a game and after that, got in jail 4 life for raping and murdering :D
I know Tayshaun Prince is not a superstar and wont be but do you believe he hasn't missed a game since he came into the NBA because of injury. I think im right there.
NO.
I believe AC Green played every single game without injury, but I wouldn't exactly call him a superstar. Karl Malone was also durable, but played so long that toward the end of his career, he wound up getting injured.

The bulls posted a 72 and 10 *41 and 3 in frist 44 games* record in Jordan's first year back out of retirement. This was not all due to Jordan because he had an amazing cast of teammates. There was Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Kerr, Longley, Kukoc, and Ron Harper. Jordan could not have done it alone. Report It

What are the 5 greatest clutch shots in NBA playoff history?

There is nothing better than when a playoff game comes down to the final seconds, the drama is immense! So many great players have added to their legacies with big shots to win in the playoffs.

So in order, what are the five greatest clutch shots in NBA playoff history?

What are the 5 greatest clutch shots in NBA playoff history?nba referee

1, Jordan's 1989 game-winner in final game at Cleveland with 3 tics left. It was the deciding game.

2. Boston-Phoenix Game 5 1976 NBA Finals:

a) John Havlicek makes a bank shot with 1 tic left to lead Celtics to apparent 1pt victory in second overtime, but refs said there's still a tic left. A technical foul was called and Celtics hit free throw

b) with 1 tic left, GARFIELD HEARD makes a turnaround shot to tie game which led to 3rd overtime

3. John Stockton's game winner in Game 6 of 1997 West Finals to lead Utah to NBA finals in 1997

4. John Paxson's game winning 3 pointer with 2 tics left in Game 6 of NBA Finals, Bulsl defeat Phoenix for their first threepeat

5. Magic Johnson's hook shot in Game 4 of NBA FInals Celtics vs. Lakers

5. (tie) Larry Bird's steal and assist to Dennis Johnson who makes difficult layup as Celtics steal Game 5 of 1987 East Finals versus Detroit

In my opinion,

1. Michael Jordan. Game 6 1998 finals vs utah. and Jordan's shot over Craig Ehlo 1990 (i think)

2. Derek Fisher .4 shot.

3. The Phoenix suns player in the finals vs boston decades ago (can't remember who or when specifically but it was at Boston vs Maravich)

4. Sampson shot over the lakers that sent Houston to the finals 1986

5. Robert Horry 2002 WCF vs Kings.
1. MJ

2. Fish

3. Horry

4. Kobe's tie vs suns

5. Kobe's buzzer
all of Michael Jordan

Reggie Miller

Derek Fisher

Robert Horrry

Larry Bird
All of MJ's last second jumpers!

In my opinion Thurmond is Bill Russell without 11 rings, and if he was put into Russell's situation, he would have been almost as, if not more, successful than Russell

Who's your most underrated player of all time?

Who is the most underated player in NBA history?nba lottery

I like your presentation of Thurmond's numbers but I do not think he is the most underrated player in NBA history. To be underrated, it means that your contributions must have been fairly unrecognized. Thurmond was named one of the NBA Top 50 greatest players of All-Time. To me, it seems like he is pretty rated...An underrated player has to lack the accolades that Thurman received (few all-stars and few all-defensive honors). In my opinion the most underrated player in NBA history is James Worthy. People talk about how MJ needed Pippen, in essence, Worthy was the sidekick to Abdul-Jabbar and Magic. The Showtime Lakers needed someone on the wing to finish at the rim, make timely mid-range jumpers, and be a decent perimeter defender and Worthy fit the mold. His accolades are shown below:

* All-NBA Third Team twice (1990, '91)

* NBA All-Rookie Team (1983) as he averaged 13.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game

* NBA Finals MVP (1988)

* NBA All-Star seven times (1986-92)

* All-time record for highest field goal percentage in a five-game series (.721) (1985)

* Highest field goal percentage for a rookie in Laker history (.579)

* Averaged 17.6 ppg and 5.1 rpg and 3.0 apg in 926 career games; averaged 21.1 ppg and 5.2 rpg in 143 career playoff games

* In Laker history, he is fifth in scoring (16,320 points), second in steals (1,041) and sixth in field goal percentage (.521)

* Retired as the 54th leading scorer in NBA history with 16,320 points

* One of seven Lakers to have his number (#42) retired

* NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time team (1996)

Worthy is rarely talked about in the same sentence of some of the games greatest small forwards like Elgin Baylor and Larry Bird but he was great.

Who is the most underated player in NBA history?nba champs ,nba teams

For me it's Kevin Johnson. Career numbers are 17.9 PPG and 9.1 APG. In the Playoffs it's 19.3 PPG and 8.9 APG. Kevin Johnson is my all time favorite Suns player. Even though STAT is starting to change that. Report It

Connie Hawkins. If he had not been relegated to the Globetrotters, ABL, and ABA before his NBA career (because of an unwarranted gambling stigma) he would have owned the league with his talent. Report It

Kobe!

Ooops I thought you meant over rated.
Scottie Pippen

Michael Jordan is just a "bald-headed Dominique Wilkins" without him
pippen
First of all Thurmond was a great player but to suggest he was Russell's equal, or even better, once again shows a lack of understanding of Russell's contribution. Russell was, and still is the best, because he had a greater desire to win games than any other player. It just meant more to Russell than every one else. Magic also had the fortitude to change his game to best fit his team's need to win. Magic could score, rebound or just run the show, depending on how his teamates were performing.

Another underrated player is Dennis Rodman - no one was better at getting his team the ball than Rodman - when he got his team the ball he didn't need it back.

You are correct about Thurmond in the sense that few recognize how great he was.
Bernard King, he was da bomb, some people don't even know his name.
Adrian Dantley.

He twice led the league in scoring (in 1981 and 1984). He averaged over 30 points per game each season between 1981 and 1984.

For his career, he shot .540 from the floor -- 16th in NBA history -- and .818 from the charity stripe. He led the league in free throws six times and ranks sixth all-time in that category. He shares the record (with Wilt Chamberlain) for most free throws made in a regular-season NBA game with 28.

Yet... no one ever mentions his name...
Tim Duncan all people say that he is so boring but look at his stats
Tim Duncan, people always call his style boring and that they don't like him, but inside they would love to have him on their favorite team.
me of course
John Stockton... whitie could ball.

Other than Wilt Chamberlain, who has the highest single season scoring average in NBA history?nba street ,nba teams

elgin baylor los angeles lakers 1961-1962 38.3 points a game

He did not win the scoring title that year due to wilt scoring about 50 a game that year but he had the next highest total followed closely by mj's 37.1
LA Lakers forward Elgin Baylor in 1962 averaged 38.3 ppg in 48 games (out of 80 games). He missed a lot of games because he was called into reserve duty with the Army near Fort Lewis, Washington, and as a result only made the Laker lineup mostly on weekends or with an occassional pass. That season, Elgin also averaged 18.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game to go with his scoring.
Michael Jordan
the answer is michael jordan....

and the allen iverson.

remember kobe didnt average double figures when he was a rookie like iverson

jordan is actually the leader....

you should do to nba.com and you find the answer quicker
I think it is Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan
San Antonio SPURs Bruce Bowen 2007

Do you think the Western Conference is tougher than ever before in NBA history.50 wins needed for pl

The West has cut throat competition this year and do you think 50 wins might be needed just to be in the top 8 of the Western Conference?

The win differential between the 1st place team (Phoenix) in the West and the 8th place team (Golden State) is only 4.5 games and the Warriors own a 29-19 record!

10 games over .500 for the last spot in the West!

Isn't that incredible?

With that 29-19 record, the Warriors could have the 4th seed in the East!!!!

The win differential between 1st place (Boston) and 8th place (New Jersey) is 17.5 games and the 7th and 8th spot teams are under .500 and the Washington Wizards in the 6th spot are barely over .500

Could this quite possibly be the toughest and most competitive conference in NBA history and with the development of Kevin Durant, Rudy Gay, Kevin Martin, Al Thornton and Greg Oden for the coming years, would only gonna get even tougher?

Do you think the Western Conference is tougher than ever before in NBA history.50 wins needed for playoffs?nba mock draft

The NBA is at its "prime" now.

Anybody can have 40 points on a given night.

20 rebounds, 20 assists, name it.

Back in the other times, there were just what? less than 200 players every year who are above average.

Those who were above average are just "average" now compared to them.

And as far as i know, every feats can be somewhat accomplished.

IT's funny though, that for you to be able to get into the WC playoff picture, you must have 29+wins right now.

Unlike the East, 18 wins gets you in the 8th spot.

so that's just a +11 on the WC side.

The NBA has seen countless of NBA stars the past years.

Today, though, the NBA might be seeing stars everywhere, anywhere.

Now, anyone could be as great as the HoFers.

We better watch out, because there might be another player better than Jordan, better than Kobe, better than Lebron, better than anybody.

And if that happens, i'll be more willing to watch.

Do you think the Western Conference is tougher than ever before in NBA history.50 wins needed for playoffs?nba scores ,nba teams

The East freaking suck...
yeah, what ever team wins the east is going to be fed to the western team (exept detroit)
Mark the protector pretty much summed it up..

the NBA is in it's prime

u got amazing talents like kobe and lebron

teams fighting for an 8th seed who are well above the 500

mark

come playoff time..

its slaughter :D
the west is better then ever now but keep in mine all it take is one team in the west to lose 3 or 4 in a row and everything is all **** up
When those young stars blossom into superstars, Steve Nash, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Jason Kidd are already retired. Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard, Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Yao Ming, Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, and David West may already be in the midst of decline. But really, if you compare the youngsters of the East and the West, East has an advantage, but I think it's because the West youngsters are younger than the East. Most of the west youngsters that are good are just rookies.

East:

LeBron James

Chris Bosh

Al Horford

Josh Smith

Dwight Howard

Jameer Nelson

Gilbert Arenas

Rajon Rondo

Danny Granger

Ben Gordon

Luol Deng

Andre Iguodala

Raymond Felton

Emeka Okafor

Dwayne Wade

Yi Jianlian

Mo Williams

Andrew Bogut

West:

Kevin Durant

Greg Oden

Brandon Roy

Rudy Gay

Tony Parker

Monta Ellis

Devin Harris

LaMarcus Aldidge

Andrew Bynum

Carmelo Anthony

JR Smith

Al Jefferson

Chris Paul

Deron Williams

Amare Stoudemire

Chris Kaman

Shaun Livingston

Marco Belinelli

Brandan Wright

Mike Conley

Corey Brewer

Darko Milicic

Martell Webster
Bulk of those wins came from playing against "Leastern" teams. Only a handful of Eastern teams could stand their ground against their Western counterparts. That's how far the devaluation of talent in the east is. Unlike the yesteryears where there are great distribution of talents from each conference and where truly the best of of each conference faces each other in the Finals. Western Finals nowadays is considered the true "NBA Finals" and the actual NBA Finals a known "circus act" in sports annals, Where results are already known even before games played. That is why the NBA is losing it's popularity if you ask me.

Hope this helps.
man, all i gotta say, is LET'S GO WARRIORS.

What Are Some Of The Best One-On-One Match-Ups In NBA History?

I would prefer if you don't mention Russell and Wilt, Bird and Magic, Pearl and Clyde, and Magic and Thomas because I have already thought of those. If you can think of any other great 1v1's in NBA's history, that would be great.

What Are Some Of The Best One-On-One Match-Ups In NBA History?nba live 2007

Jordan vs Wilkins

Kobe vs T-Mac

Kobe vs D-Wade

Not to mention Lebron vs. The Pistons. (Their 7 game series last year was a classic...)

What Are Some Of The Best One-On-One Match-Ups In NBA History?nba betting ,nba teams

Only 2 matchups in history matter, Russell vs Wilt and Bird vs Magic (although the latter didn't face each other defensively). But since you asked for matchups besides these, here's what I can think of:

- Bird vs Dominique Wilkins

- Bird vs Bobby Jones

- Bird vs Michael Cooper

- Kareem vs Cowens

- Olajuwon vs David Robinson

- Olajuwon vs Ewing

- John Havlicek vs Jerry West

- The Big O vs Jerry West

- Bob Cousy vs Slater "Dugie" Martin

- Dave DeBusschere vs Paul Silas

- Bird vs Bernard King

- Magic vs Dennis Johnson

- Ewing vs Alonzo Mourning

- Andrew Toney vs the Boston Celtics

- Barkley vs Karl Malone

- Karl Malone vs Rodman

- Duncan vs Garnett
Ewing and Mourning, Shaq and Barkley, Wade and James. Bird and Magic had the greatest rivalry though.
Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. No contest. In 1982 both of thier collages played each other in the National Championship and Magic Johnson's team (Michigan St.) won. For the next 10+ years those two competidors fought to see who was the best player in the 1980's. Magic and the Los Angelas Lakers won five times and Larry Bird's Boston Celtics won the Championship three times in his career.

But thats old school. New school is Kobe vs. Bowen. Kobe Bryant, well known as the best scoring player in the NBA today. Bruce Bowen, Well known as the best defensive player in the NBA. When those two go head to head.....WATCH OUT!! Bruce is a nasty plater who will not back down to Kobe. Whenever the Spurs face the Lakers make sure you tune in to see some elbow flying action.....Bruce is not a scoring machine (averging around six points a game) but has been defensive player of the year many times. In the link I gave you there is even a video with Bowen showing how to play man to man defense.Check it out!

If you have any more NBA questions don't hesitate to ask!

Dr. J vs. Michael Jordan

Steve Nash vs. Allen Iverson

Shaq vs. Wilt Chamberlain
Chamberlain / Jabbar

Jabbar / Walton

Willis Reed / Wes Unseld

Dave Debusschere / Gus Johnson

Walt Frazier / Jerry West

Jerry West / Oscar Robertson

Any two of these guys: Ewing / Olajuwon / D. Robinson / Shaq

Zdrunis Ilgauskas / Eddy Curry (just kidding)

Shaq / Ben Wallace (only because I crack up seeing Shaq just piss all over Ben every time).

Magic vs Dennis Johnson

Larry Bird vs Michael Cooper

Kevin McHale vs Mychal Thompson (Thompson was the only guy in the NBA who could match up with McHale defensively, other than Jabbar, who was already matched up with Parrish).

McHale vs. Worthy

Kobe vs McGrady (never know when one of these guys will do something amazing)...but now I'm getting into players who've never played a meaningful game against each other.
kobe vs kobe's ego
Shaq vs. Olajuwon! C'mon they even made a TV commercial together!
Allen Iverson's rookie season when he crossed up Michael Jordan and drained an 18 foot jumper right in his face.
Dr J vs Michael Cooper. Coops was a defensive specialist who shut players down. I can remember the doc going up for a dunk, coops going up for the block, then the doc floated past the rim and casually slammed it thru on the way past. All Coops could do was duck and protect his head in his hands.
Well you took the best ones off the board.....but how about Dr J and Larry Bird......
i think that it would be...

Kobe vs D-wade

Steve Nash vs Allen Iverson

Kobe vs Bell =P lolz cuz of last season =P

Shaq and Yao (as usual the tallest players) lolz

hummm LeBron and VC they're both really good at dunks =D

You heard it here first, Oden will be the biggest bust in NBA history.?

Oden will be the biggest bust in NBA history, i think even bigger the olowokandi. I say this for a few reasons, Ohio state didn't make it to the finals because of oden. You didn't see oden dominating florida, you didn't see oden dominating anyone. Heck they played a princeton team that was 2-13 and oden scored less than 12 points, and they almost lost to princeton...

Conley jr is why ohio state was who they were.

Durrant on the other hand will be the next Kevin garnett.

You heard it here first, Oden will be the biggest bust in NBA history.?nba playoffs 2007

holy crap oden is by far the most overrated big man in history coming into the draft. i cannot wait until next when his stats read- 3.9 points, 4.8 rbs, 1.8 ast, and 1.81 blocks a game. he will be dominated by every true big man he faces next year. he always goes for the block which will hurt him so bad in the nba cause all the players are much more athletic and versatle than the unskilled so called "centers" in the pathetic big 10. he has no offensive game except when a guard[conley] drives and dishes him the ball only when he is open. his "huge presense" in the paint wont mean anything next year when guys like vince carter and dwight howard are dunking all in his face. he will finally realize tht even fowards have the same big man skills he has when he gets posted up which people were to scared to do to him in college. also, he never developed stamina in his career yet so he should be pretty tired after the 1st quarter. GREG ODEN BETTER BE READY FOR A WAKE UP CALL! [BY THE WAY-HES 40 HAHA]

You heard it here first, Oden will be the biggest bust in NBA history.?nba league pass ,nba teams

I disagree with your claim. Greg Oden had a defensive impact with the Ohio State Buckeyes and he was one of many reasons that they made it to the finals. He may have only one year ofcollegebasketball experience but he can learn to play like a professional NBA player with time. It won't happen overnight. You can't expect another Shaquille O'Neal for a while.
DIDNT DOMINATE VS. FLORDIA~!!!! HAAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHH LOLOLOLOLOL HE WAS GOING TOBE NAMED MVP EVEN IF FLORIDA WON
He was the only one on that team that showed up for the NC so your an idiot. There is a lot more to playing the game than just scoring points. Oden is a beast. Now I don't think he's the next Shaq/Ewing but he's done just fine. And you really think he'll be worse than Kwame Brown, Chris Washburn, and Shawn Bradley? Wow.
ok #1 this isn't a quesiton, #2 you can't judge him from one bad game and #3 I hope he does well just to put you in your place
well oden wont be good right away, i can see that happening. he is so raw offensively it might take him 3 or 4 years to play well on offense however is defense is already there. he wont be as dominating in the nba as he was incollegebut he can change shots and is really athletic for a big man. i dont think he will be a bust and even if he is, he cant be as bad as olowokandi.

KD has more bust potential than oden. do you realize how rail thin he is? he is so fragile and can easily mess up something in his body, ala shaun livingston. KD for his size cant play/guard the 4 in the nba.
depends what you define as bust. even if he never fully develops an offensive game, he'll always be a good defender. oh and I'm not sure what game you watched ...

10-15 for 25 pts 12rbs 4 blks 1 stl and Florida's big men didn't want to get near him down the stretch.

you could be right, cuz it happens, but I wouldn't base it off that game against a supposedly great front court.
The biggest bust in History? That's strong. Besides, it's hard for anyone to live up to all the hype. Will he be Shaq? Probably not, but the biggest bust ever...?
First of all, let me tell you something you don't know. Greg Oden play through the wholecollegeseason with a injure right hand. And yes he is right handed. Second he won't be a bust, hes only going to get better as his right hand heals. He is by far one of the quickest 7 footers to the play in the NBA or going to play in the NBA.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Oden is the most dominating paint defender thecollegegame has seen in years. He didn't dominate anyone because he is not flashy like Durant. I will take his 15 points, 12 boards, and 5 blocks a game he will average any day. Durant may get more publicity as a player in the NBA, but Oden will win more simply because he works very hard and will do what is needed to win. You have to account for a big man with his shot blocking ability every time you want to go inside.

Oh, and not to mention, he is ridiculously strong for a kid that young. He will fit better right away than Durant because he will not have much more growing to do.
i was worried about that i mean everyone is putting so much pressure on him to be the greatest to come along in 10 years when he is 19 i hope he doesnt catch kwame brown syndrome i dont think he will be a bust but he will either be one of the greatest or a bust

If Kobe got traded, would this be the biggest trade in NBA history?

If not, which is the biggest trade in NBA history?

If Kobe got traded, would this be the biggest trade in NBA history?nba finals 2007

yes

If Kobe got traded, would this be the biggest trade in NBA history?www.nba.com ,nba teams

I would certainly hope not!
Id say its one of the biggest, just because kobe ruined the whole team, so he could have it his way, and then he got it and now he wants out. he didnt like shaq, so they got rid of him. he didnt like the coaching staff, and that problem was also resolved. all the organization did for him, and he shows no appreciation to the city or fans
YES, If Kobe Bryant gets traded it will be the biggest trade in NBA History here is why:

When Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlin, %26amp; Shaquille O'neal got traded. They were not the best players in baskeetball, they were not with biggest contracts valued at $136.8 million, they didnt have the option to go where ever they wanted, they did not have #1 Jersey sales in the world, and most importanlty they were not young.

Kobe Bryant has and is all of these things, thus making him the biggest trade in NBA history. Also he is the most controversial player in sports as well, it would make so much buzz that would be both negative anf positive.
I can think of three bigger trades involving the Lakers, alone. It wouldnt' even be the biggest trade in Lakers history this decade.

I'd put it behind the trade of Shaq from LA to Miami.

And I'd put it way behind the trade of Wilt Chamberlain from 76ers to LA.

I think Abdul-Jabbar was also traded. He had won one championship with Milwaukee and then won 5 more with LA.

So
No, Dr. J (Julius Erving) traded leagues when he was the face of the ABA, when he went to the Sixers, that was huge.
Chamberlain and Abdul-Jabbar were both traded. Chamberlain was so dominant that the NBA had to change the rules. Jabbar was so dominant that the NCAA had to change the rules.
Shaq being traded influenced the league more. Miami won a championship within 2 years and the Lakers have been relatively woeful since he left. The places Kobe wants to go to, he probably would not turn them into championship teams immediately and the Lakers won't plummet as badly as when Shaq left. They'll go from a B to a C when Kobe leaves instead of going from an A to a D when Shaq left.
someone should get him in trade so they can make him clean the locker room. thats about all he is good for anymore.

maybe the towel guy or water boy.

waaaaaaaaaaaa kobe
No it'd be big tho
I think that it would be the best move on the Lakers part. They need to stop catering to this brat.
Well it would have to be. Right now I think the biggest trade was when Red Auerbach traded Ed Macauley to St. Louis for the rights to draft Bill Russell. The rest is history. Russell won 11 championships in 13 seasons. By the way Ed Macauley won the first NBA All Star Game MVP in 1951.
hell nah **** Kobe the best NBA history is when Michael Jordan made the famous dunk
chamberlin, kareem, shaq,

nah he won't be because he can't win titles for his new

team like the above 3 did.

based on results. kareem coming to the lakers was

the biggest trade in history on nba, lakers won like 4

or 5 titles with him. shaq would be second, lakers won

3 titles because of shaq.

Kobe does not even measure up as a team mate much

less a champion.
Depends on how you define big. If you mean big as in number of players then my vote goes to this:

"August 2, 2005: MIAMI HEAT acquires F Antoine Walker from the BOSTON CELTICS and G Jason Williams, F James Posey and G Andre Emmett from the MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES and the draft rights to C Roberto Duenas from the NEW ORLEANS HORNETS in a five-team trade that sent G-F Eddie Jones to Memphis, F Rasual Butler to New Orleans, a 2006 second-round draft pick, a conditional second-round draft pick, F Qyntel Woods and the draft rights to Albert Miralles to Boston; The UTAH JAZZ acquired C Greg Ostertag from Memphis; Boston acquired C Curtis Borchardt from Utah and G Raul Lopez from Memphis; New Orleans acquired G Kirk Snyder from Utah." That's 13 players.

In terms of player impact I would say it's a tie between

1) Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Traded to: Los Angeles Lakers (with C Walt Wesley)

Traded for: C Elmore Smith, F/G Junior Bridgeman, G/F Brian Winters, F Dave Meyers

Trade date: June 16, 1975

I mean, Kareem was playing for the Lakers long after the other guys retired!

2) Oscar Robertson traded to Milwaukee for G Flynn Robinson and F Charlie Paulk on April 20, 1970. Robertson and Kareem win the title right after.

3) Moses Malone to Philadelphia for Caldwell Jones and a first round pick. Malone wins championship, regular season MVP and finals MVP afterwards.

I noted the above three trades because they were lopsided and had immediate and/or lasting impact.

Kobe being traded? we'll have to see WHO he is traded for and what the result it.

Also, Kobe was NEVER MVP. Moses Malone, Kareem, Oscar Robertson and Wilt were MVP by the time they were traded, were considered among the greatest EVER. Kareem and Wilt had already won championships by the time they were traded. Championships when they were the main guy and not second banana like Kobe.

Not young? Chamberlain and Kareem were both 28 when they were traded. Same age as Kobe now.

WIll Avery Johnson be one of the best coaches in NBA history?

I mean look what he has done so far in 2 season. bringing the mavericks to a championship his first year in dallas and now having the chance to tie the best record in NBA history if the mavericks win out but it is more likely if they hit 70 which aint an easy road to get there anyway.

WIll Avery Johnson be one of the best coaches in NBA history?nba rumors

hes a great coach cause hes passionate, experienced as a player and has played with some of his team mates.

i dont think he will be the best coach in nba history though. he does still need to get the rings to be the best. let us also remember, he started under the tutoring of Don Nelson on a team that was already established.....its hard to guage how good a coach is when the team is established and strong. since he has come to the team, no major changes have occured that i can think of....in syaing so, hes a great coach, but hes not the best....not yet

WIll Avery Johnson be one of the best coaches in NBA history?nba salaries ,nba teams

Possibly, lets see what he can do with no one one his team in about 10 years or so. The best have made good teams out of nothing: Jackson help Lakers get back in the playoffs. It's to soon to tell for coach AJ!
He has a lot yet to do to even be mentioned with the likes of Auerbach, Riley, Jackson, etc.
As far as I can see, he hasnt won any championships, so I'm not quite ready to put him up in the leagues of Pat Riley, Phil Jackson and Red Auerbach.
CORRECTION! Avery Johnson IS one of the best coaches in NBA history.
He's a great coach but the only way he'll be considered one of the best in history is if his Mavs win 1 or 2 championships.
i think so i mean he has completley turned the mavs around. i mean look at the mavs 3 years ago and look at them now. he is the fastest coach to 100 wins in nba history.
If anything he has the most memorable voice.

Shawn Marion or Marcus Camby.

Marion's looks like he's throwing it, and not shooting it. Camby shoots it from behind his head, and it takes forever for him to crank it up.

Are The Atlanta Hawks Going To Have The Best Draft In NBA History?

The Atlanta Hawks are kinda in and kinda out of the 2007 NBA Draft. Which is one of the strongest drafts since 2003 which included ( Lebron, Carmello, Wade, Bosh, J. Howard)

- The Hawks currently have potential to get the #4 pick, but if that happens the pick will go to the Suns, unless it is a top three pick.

- But Hawks dont lose out in the draft necessarliy if that goes bad,

- The Atlanta Hawks also can acquire the potential #11 pick from the Indiana Pacers if they do not get the top three pick. And they have a really great percentage to do that.

- So the Hawks can really have one of the best drafts in NBA History by potential getting one of the top three picks and the #11 pick.

- Or they can get one of the two

- And on the worse case scernario they can end up with nothing.

- If they do get the #1 pick and #11 pick. They will fill their most ovious needs at PG and Center. Meaning they would try to Draft : PG : Mike Connley Jr. - #11 pick

Center: Greg Oden

January 7, 1951

Well, I don't know that - but an interesting tid-bit is the highest scoring NBA game was in 1983 (remember those funny little shorts?!) between the Nuggets and the Pistons. Both teams scored into the 160's and it went 3 overtimes.

Is this one of the best years in NBA history?

Wow, I cannot believe how amazing this year has been. Besides the revival of the Boston Celtics, there's also been a strengthening in the the Western Conference. ESPN even mentioned that there may be teams that win 50 games and will NOT make the playoffs. Regardless, that shows how strong the West is. Also, players of the past and present seem to be playing at their best, and New Orleans' All-Star Weekend was probably the best weekend in the past few years. Is this one of the best years in NBA history to you guys?

Is this one of the best years in NBA history?nba standings

One of the best...

Is this one of the best years in NBA history?nba referee ,nba teams

Yes I guess
I think so! It's always a great year when teams that matter nationally have great seasons. This year we got the Lakers, Celtics, Suns, Mavericks, Piston, and Spurs playing great basketball. Now, if only the Knicks and Bulls can step up to join these teams next year, then next season will be even better!

Gotta give it up to the Western conference. This is the most frightening I have ever seen it, and 50 wins will not be enough. You gotta break that 60 mark! Look for the Lakers, and Suns to make it happen. Only the strong will survive.

And much love to New Orleans for a great All-Star Weekend. The NBA is back, and the future looks good!
YES! with the competion so good in the west u can't miss one game. or u might miss the 6th seed getting put out of the playoff picture. the east is ok i guess. but with all the crazy trades and the west i am in heaven
the most exciting years at least since '92. yes, due to the possibilities of 50 win teams missing the playoffs plus the trading and the ease at which to fall in the standings, there hasn't been anything quite like this since I've been following the NBA.
well for the west!....the playoff spots are very tough this year!
actually it is. i haven't seen a season like this in a while. and now there are a whole bunch of good players out there. and the teams with all the trades. it becoming crazy. shaq on the suns! Ben Wallace on the Cavaliers! its becoming crazy.this is one of the best seasons. and Dwight Howard set it off on all star weekend with those crazy dunks. there hasn't been that much creativity in a long time.
I agree with you. This year's been really cool. With all these trades, teams moving to the top and just how tough the Western Conference is, whoa, amazing! Haha, NBA where AMAZING happens. The way the NBA is right now, is one of the most exciting seasons ever. The Lakers are on top the West and the Celtics on top the east, it would be cool if they were to matchup again in the NBA Finals. There's just too much to say this year in the NBA!
it's ok
The Western Conference is the most competitive in NBA history while the Eastern Conference has been one of the easiest to compete in

Somebody from the west could potentially end up with 50 wins and NOT make the playoffs...with 50 wins you could easily be a top 3 seed in the pathetic East
these trades have made the season that much more exciting!!

Question for anybody who knows the history of the nba?nba lottery ,nba teams

I know that they weren't better than the Mike and Pippen duo or the Magic Kareem duo. That I do know.
They were a prolific low post scoring and rebounding threat for the St. Louis Hawks during the late 1950s and early 1960s. No doubt that their numbers are partly due to their size. They won one championship together I believe. Russell was good at defending them and stopped them most of the time. His Celtics were frequently the team that knocked the Hawks out of the playoffs.

Who made the first three pointer in NBA history?

Who made the first three pointer in NBA history?

Who made the first three pointer in NBA history?nba schedule

Fred Brown. Or "Downtown Freddie Brown!"... he also invented air, pretzels, guitar hero and spray on bronzer. crazy huh?!

Who made the first three pointer in NBA history?nba mock drafts ,nba teams

John Miller played for Vaconver Grillz.
On October 12, 1979, Chris Ford scored the NBA's first three-point shot, and Fred Brown led the league in three-point field goal percentage in that first season of adoption

If you could choose one player in NBA history to build a team around, who would it be?

I pick Michael Jordan. Here's why:

Great teammate

Great scorer

Great leader

Good overall player (the best of all time)

Good rebounder for a guard(averaged 8 a game one year)

Good passer (averaged 8 APG one season)

The most competitive player in NBA history

Magic Johnson is a good choice as well, because a great PG is hard to find. Wilt Chamberlain possibly, because it's hard to find quality centers anymore.

So who do you pick, and why?

If you could choose one player in NBA history to build a team around, who would it be?nba update

Michael Jordan.

If you could choose one player in NBA history to build a team around, who would it be?nba mock draft ,nba teams

lol, when did i mention Kobe? lol Report It

and yes, it's true.. you know nothing about NBA history.

There..i said it again lol Report It

i would clearly pick bill russell with no hesitation whatsoever. 11 rings in 13 years???come on thats greatness right there. you say wilt chamberlain, he was great but not as good as russell. he AVERAGED 20+ rebounds during his career and probly 8+ blocks if they kept track of blocks back then.
sorry to say this but not michael jordan it took him years to develop and jell with his teammates even than he only won because of scottie pippen

based on this i would have to pick someone that can be a great player from the start I pick john stockton all time steals and assist leader excellent floor general, coachs playe, and fits well with any team

plays his position (best pure point guard in history)

run the fast break - half court
Kobe Bryant...Do I Have To Tell Why?

Well Aren't You Friendly...
I think I would choose Shaq.

I truly believe that Wilt would not be able to handle Shaq, who could? In his prime I mean.

It's a tough choice. All I need is a PG or SG and the championships will come raining down.
"Alpha", in the two years prior to Bill Russell's arrival, the Celtics (and Red Auerbach, the "greatest coach of all time") couldn't even win their division, despite the presence of not one, but TWO top 50 players, Cousy and Sharman.

You obviously know nothing about NBA history, give it up.

Russell made the Celtics into instant champions and became the key member of a dynasty which is unmatched in the history of sports. Auerbach became a hell of a coach after he got Russell.

As soon as Russell retired, the Celtics IMMEDIATELY collapsed.
Jordan.
Are you actually looking for a good answer, or just another IDIOT that agrees with you?

First off, MORON, Bill Russell joined a team that was only 39-33 the year prior, despite having 3-4 HOFer's. That team did not win the championship, they lost in the semi's.

In Russell's rookie season, they won the championship. What was the difference? Russell.

Secondly, Cousy only played during Russell's first 7 seasons, then he retired. So did Bill Sharman and Frank Ramsey. But the Celtics continued racking up titles. What was the only constant on those teams? That's right....Bill Russell

If you think that Jordan was the best "overall" player of all time, then you really need help. He was one of the greatest SCORERS of all time. Thats about it!

To answer your question, I would pick Larry Bird. He didn't need good players around him to win. He took average players and made them better. And, he was a winner, wherever he played.

Magic Johnson would also be a good choice, as would Wilt Chamberlain, who's numbers make Jordan's look pitiful (but you refuse to face that. You would rather continue living in Michael Jordan's Fantasyland).
I agree 100% , he is the greatest and everything you said. Go Heels !!!!
michael jordan cause his mike but hes the team not a perfect team player and does'nt get team in it. I like pete maravich good scorer ,best passer that ever lived and hes tall for a point gaurd
Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlin.
Bill Russell. He was a good scorer and a rock-solid defender.

Russell was the best defender ever and would have made any team a contender just by being on their roster.

My second choice would be either Wilt Chamberlain or Kareem Abdul Jabber. You can't go wrong with a great big man.
Bill Russell

because no matter who you put around him he's gonna bring you a championship. Russell is the greatest winner in the history of the sport.

That is not a matter of opinion that is a fact proven through time
michael jordan
I agree with MJ.

2nd choice would be Dr J. 3rd Shaq.
Your right I would pick Michael Jordan 4 SURE!!!!!!!!!!
MAGIC JOHNSON.
LBJ for sure..Look at him he has no other stars on the team but he scores, gets his team involved and wins games.Even got to the finals by himself..If you just give him a decent point guard..he wil take it all. Lebron=Best

Your top 10 greatest dauos in NBA history?

1. Kobe/Shaq (most dominate)

2. Jordan/Pippen (most successful)

3. Magic/Kareem

4. John Stockton/ Karl Malone

5. Wilt/Jerry West

6. Tim Duncan/ David Robinson

7. Hakeem the Dream/Ralph Sampson

8. Bill Rusell/ Bob Cousy

9. Magic/James Worthy

10. Dr J/ Moses Malone

Your top 10 greatest dauos in NBA history?nba store

NUMBER ONE=JORDAN %26amp; PIPPEN!!!

Your top 10 greatest dauos in NBA history?nba salary ,nba teams

i think # 2 and 3
Russell/Havlicek

11 championships.

Can anybody beat that?

NO
I totally agree with your list, but the top 2 could go either way, especially if you could add in rodman's crazy hair.
kevin martin and ron artest!!!
# 5 was not a duo, it was a trio. Jerry West, Wilt, and Gail Goodrich.
In order of Success:

1. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen

2. Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

3. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal

4. Tim Duncan and David Robinson

5. Oscar Robertson and Lew Alcindor aka Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

6. Walt Frazier and Willis Reed

7. Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler

8. Julius Erving and Moses Malone

9. Jerry West and Elgin Baylor

10. John Stockton and Karl Malone

Wilt actually became successful when he is forced to play a team game, thus he don't have a solid duo because in his championship years and his most successful years he played with the likes of Luke Jackson, Billy Cunningham, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West and Gail Goodrich. In the case of Bill Russell, the man never really had a duo since he is the ultimate team player who doesn't need really think for himself but for his teammates.

Hope this helps.
1. Jordan and Pippen

2. Magic and Kareem

3. John Stockton and Karl Malone

4. Kobe and Shaq

5. Bill Russell and Bob Cousy

6. Wilt and Jerry West

7. Dr. J and Moses Malone

8. Tim Duncan and David Robinson

9. Magic and James Worthy

10. Hakeem and Sampson

2 and 6 lose ground because Kareem/Wilt weren't in their primes when playing with them (for the most part)

In 10 years, how many players in NBA history have left the bench during an altercation?

-How many players in NBA history have left the bench during an altercation and been suspended?

-Did any of those players apologize to their team-mates or fans for jeopardizing the team?

-Has any player been suspended _twice_ for leaving the bench during an altercation?

In 10 years, how many players in NBA history have left the bench during an altercation?nba draft history

Interesting question. I'm glad you limited it to 10 years. There have been quite a few 'altercations" "tussles" "skirmishes" and what not the last 10 years.

It doesn't appear that any player has served this suspension twice. Interestingly though, players have served more than one suspension for *active participation* in altercations.

As for apologies, players have apologized for being involved in the altercation but can't seem to find mention of a 'leaving the bench during an altercation and suspended' apology from a player.

Here are the suspensions for leaving the bench during an altercation:

(note--this list doesn't have the guys actively involved *in the altercation* but who left the bench area)

Who is the best coach ever in NBA History?

Who is the best coach ever in NBA History?

a) Lenny Wilkens

b) Pat Riley

c) Red Auerbach

d) Jerry Sloan

e) Don Nelson

f) Greg Poppovich

g) Phil Jackson

Pick One and Why ?

Who is the best coach ever in NBA History?nba gear

It's a tough one, but I'll go with Riley. Yes Riley had enormous talent in LA, but he proved himself when he took a very mediocre NY Knicks team to game 7 of the Finals (a game they SHOULD have won) and then took a dismal Miami franchise to prominence in the late 90's and finally to a championship in his comeback last year. Riley wins wherever he has been, no matter what kind of talent his teams have and is widely known as a great teacher of the NBA game. Bottom line: Riles is the man.

Poppovich is severely underrated though and SHOULD get much more credit for the job he's done. He's won 3 titles and hasn't exactly coached the 96 Bulls all these years. Yes he has Duncan, but outside of Duncan, the Spurs have never really had a great team. Parker and Ginobili are solid but aren't superstars, David Robinson was broken down in the twilight of his career when Duncan led them to titles, etc. Give some props to Popps.

Who is the best coach ever in NBA History?nba finals 2007 ,nba teams

Riley. Plain and simple. He's won everywhere he's coached, and he's got a lot of rings. Red gets a lot of props for winning a lot of championships as well, though. And Pops gets respect for having a great record AND for having a team of gentlemen - you simply don't hear about guys on the Spurs anywhere but the sports pages. No paternity suits, no off-court scuffles, no antics on-court; they just play ball.
Red. That one is a no brainer.
Lenny? No, not enough playoff runs

Riles? Possibly, seems to get his teams over the hump..

Red? 9 championships, great disciplinarian

Sloan? Never won a c'ship, but always seems to be right there.

Nelson? Never won it all either...

Pops? Best team over the last 10 years....

Phil? Has never had to build a team, walked into Michael and Scottie, as well as Kobe and Shaq.

My pick......Pat Riley, he put together a great team in LA, another great team in NY, if it weren't for the bulls, they would have won. Also found a way to make a bunch of old players come together with D-Wade to win it all.

He turns teams around and creates championships, i'd pick him
Phil Jackson three 3 peats as nba champs
Pat Riley....Auerbach just had a freaking dynasty in Boston. How many other coaches have gone almost 20 years between titles. That's two different eras and styles of play and rule changes. My second would be Jerry Sloan, even tho he hasn't been able to win it all yet.
Red Auerbach, and Phil Jackson..because I said so
Riley and Jackson, because they did it with different teams in more turbulent times.....How does Sloan even make this list....????

Red is a legend but the talent wasn't as diverse, but he was a pioneer in the game. Pop, Nelly, and Wilkens are all Hall of Famers.....So Riles and Phil are the best off the list!!!!!!!!!!!!!
red aurbach. 11 titles and not to mention the best GM ever. he got Bird, Russell , Mchale, Parrish, and Cousy. He won the most. The cigar never lies.
Pat riley because he can lead every team to victory and didn't trade wade away in deal for Shaq
Red Auerbach!!! Do you really need an explanation?
Wow this is a tough question. Well you know pretty much all those coaches are great. But if i narrowed to two id pick Phil Jackson and Red Auerbach. I would say Red because he gave so much hope and so many great things to the NBA with the most amazing Celtics team at the time but don't get me wrong Phil Jackson was just inducted into the basketball hall of fame so in many years when this question is asked it could be either one.
Simply Red Auerbach - He was at the helm of a dynasty the likes of which had never been seen before or since.

He coached a variety of players that were not inherited, he actually groomed them. His legacy lived on as well after he left his coaching duties he was followed by coaches that had been coached by him. They continued with the "blue print" he established.

Who had the most buzzer beaters in NBA history?

who had the most buzzer beaters in NBA history in one season? how much did they have? if u know please give me some information about it.

Who had the most buzzer beaters in NBA history?nba statistics

i would say reggie miller

Who had the most buzzer beaters in NBA history?nba store ,nba teams

Buzzer-beaters belong to Reggie Miller.

People who said MJ are just plain nuts.

MJ had only 25 game-winners.

Andn only 8 of them are buzzer-beaters.

So if you think Jordan was hitting many buzzer-beaters, think again -

ESPN just made it look like he had hit those buzzer-beaters.
Probably Michael Jordan, because whenever his team was in that situation, he ALWAYS got the ball no matter what.
Probably Reggie Miller.
JORDAN

Jerry West

In the NBA, turnovers were not officially charged to individual players prior to the 1977-78 season. The ABA did charge players with individual turnovers from 1968 through its final season of 1976, when the league merged with the NBA.

Who has the most Most Turnover in NBA History?nba rumors ,nba teams

I dunno about the actual stats. But by watching the recently concluded finals, I'd say Lebroom James.
I DONT NO GOOD QUESTION
I DO NOT THINK THE NBA KEEPS THAT AS A OFFICIAL STAT BUT IF THEY DO I AM SURE IT IS A POINT GUARD SO I THINK MAGIC JOHSON

In your opinion, which #1 Draft Pick was the biggest flop in NBA History? Why?

One who made the least impact to the team which chose him, and who had the poorest NBA career

In your opinion, which #1 Draft Pick was the biggest flop in NBA History? Why?nba all star game

LaRue Martin was drafted #1 out of Loyola University by the Portland Trailblazers in 1972, and spent just 4 seasons in the NBA.

Stats show that he never scored more than 7 pts in agame, and averaged just 5.3 pts and 4.6 boards per game for his entire career.

In your opinion, which #1 Draft Pick was the biggest flop in NBA History? Why?knicks ,nba teams

Sam Bowie is always treated un-fairly in these things. He was never going to match up to jordan, you should direct your crap at the portland trailblazers head office
Michael Olowakandi...b/c he's Michael Olawakandi...close close second is Kwame Brown b/c of how hyped he was and b/c Jordan was so high on him and he was absolutely garbage for the longest time...still isnt great but has improved thats the only reason he's not #1 IMO.
olowankandi by far. he was supposed to be a dominant center. now, he has no team. no one really interested in getting him. i can't remember him having a great season. at least joe smith was a solid starter/role player. kwame showed flashes of greatness last year.
Joe Smith
LaRue Martin of the Portland Trail Blazers, Joe Barry Carroll of Golden State and Sam Bowie of Portland.
I'd have to say Kwame Brown. He was drafted by Jordan and was believed to becoming a promising big man. Now I watch my Lakers suffer with Kwames horrible ball handling and lack of just understanding the damn game of basketball!! I can also say Darko Milicic by the Pistons. Yeah, see! You don't even know who he is.

Who is the best defensive player in NBA history?

I think the best defensive player in NBA history is Michael Jordan.

He was complete player. I liked his defense rather than his offense. Please tell me your opinion!

Who is the best defensive player in NBA history?2003 nba draft

dennis rodman

Who is the best defensive player in NBA history?nba free agents ,nba teams

Bruce Bowen is the best....and just to tell everyone else, having blocks doesn't make someone a good defensive player.

Bruce bowen knows all the tricks in creating diversions with his hands to confuse players. No one can post up to him because he just backs up and the poster just falls over Report It

Bill Russell
I'd go with Wilt - a 300 lbs. solid mass of muscle who can block dunks and grabs a whole buncha rebounds. Bill Russell is second.
lol at the guy that said Mark freakin Eaton.

It's Bill Russell. A poster before me explained it perfectly. Jordan is a good vote too, but I gotta give the edge to Russell.

Hakeem Olajuwon wasn't too shabby either.
he shoots, he scores! 2 points
Sir Charles.. He will not only block your shot sending the ball flying 20-30 feet to the crowd, he will give you this stare as if he just found you sleeping with his wife.. And you would wanna say,"Pls dont hurt me Sir,I wont do it again.."

He is so mean defensively that you would think you are a naked princess dribbling in front of a naked rapist.. He is a nasty defender who wants to make you like to think of playing football instead.. And like a divirginized chick,he will make sure you remember him..

Although he never won a championship, he put fear into the hearts of many players in the NBA...
i think the same Micheal Jordan
I think that Dinis Rodman was really good. I miss watching him play back when Jordan and him were on the bulls back in 97' damn those were good days...
Mark Eaton... he averaged like 4 block per game with the Jazz

Who will the Phoenix Suns take with the 21st pick? Your thoughts... thanks... Link:

Unofficial Yahoo Answers Mock Draft

PS-Answers end at the end of halftime Miami-Dallas thursday.
Bill Russell.

Jordan was a very good defender but I thought Scottie Pippen was the best defender for the Bulls.
Amare
Bill Russell

Russell is remembered for his role in the Boston Celtics dynasty that won 11 championships in the 13 seasons that he played. His major contribution to the sport was raising defensive play to a new level; he is commonly considered the greatest defensive center to ever play the game.

He was possibly the first to effect the outcomes of games solely on the defensive end. His rebounding was second only to Wilt Chamberlain, and he had a dozen consecutive seasons of 1,000 or more rebounds. Blocks weren't recorded as an official stat until 73-74, but he could swat with the best of 'em and he more gave Wilt a run for his money at only 6' 9" %26amp; 235.

I'd rate MJ a strong second....
I'm going to go with Oscar Robertson. He was a great shot blocker, but they didn't keep that stat until his final year. Oh yeah, that year he blocked 4 per game and still averaged 1 steal.
well, i think when its all said and done, it might be ben wallace, this guy is a physical specimen, he never allows easy points in the paint.
ron artest
Bill Russell, undersized but never out worked.

2004 playoffs, Detroit and New Jersey. Blowout was only by thirty, but Detroit held New Jersey to 63 points. In a playoff game that is amazing. I give that the biggest blowout. Did I mention this was a playoff game
There have been so many of them it would be hard to keep track--unless you were playing on the team, knew someone who was, or was a devoted follower of that particular team.

THE SAME LIST AS YOURS, BUT PISTOL PETE BELONGS IN THERE SOMEWHERE

Who has the best crossover in NBA history ?nba standings ,nba teams

John Ameachi

HAHAHA
Earl "The Pearl" Monroe
Tim Hardaway without a doubt, an he didn't have to carry the ball either.
Tim Hardaway hands down Payton said he would have paid Hardaway to teach him how to break the defenders ankle. Just an amazing player. Ai would have to come in to play then Jordan, Wade, and Thomas.
prob AI or tim hardaway in his prime. but did you see kirk's crossover on pavlovic today? SICK!!!!!! SICK!!! SICK!!!
Manute bol definetly has the sickest crossover!!
AI has the best cross-over i mean ankle breaking cross-over. He made Antonio Daniels fall on his azz twice. He made Jordan juke out of his shorts.

Thomas was a though pg.

Kobe is prolific,unbelievable,unreal,record-brea... scorer.
I would say Tim Hardaway in his prime. I remember A.I. in his rookie season crossover and leave M. Jordan standing still as he hit a shot so I would put Iverson second. Hardaway could break the defenders ankle during his prime.
I have to say Allen Iverson. Then Kobe Bryant.
tim hardaway at his prime. Early daz with golden state.

then A. I.... as much as i respect jordan, (the greatest player to play the game) i dont think he belongs to this list.
kobe bryant
hey kobe --How about AI?
here is a secret...

If you are ever asking for the greatest ______ in basketball history, 9 times out of 10 it is michael jordan. This is one of those 9
I would agree and put MJ at the top of yet another list. However, Iverson was a close second in this category.
Great question and tough to answer. I would have to go with Iverson on this, followed by the Hardaway of the late 80s/early 90s. Don't overlook Rafer Alston either, he may be as great a player as the others are/were, but his crossover is great.

Who's the biggest dissapointment in NBA history?

Meaning who is/was the biggest draft bust in NBA history? My top 10 would be:

1Kwame Brown

2Darko Millicic

3Chris Washburn

4Sam Bowie

5Michael Olowalakandi

6Joe Smith

7Dennis Hopson

8Bo Kimble

9Danny Ferry

10Billy Owens

Who's the biggest dissapointment in NBA history?nba ballers

Here are my top busts over a 10 year draft period.

2006 # 3 pick - Adam Morrison (a lot of buzz surrounding him but not much happening yet)

2005 - # 6 Martell Webster (couldn't find his niche on a talent deprived team)

2004 - # 8 Rafael Araujo (gives new meaning to the word bust)

2003 - # 9 Mike Sweetney (traded for Ed Curry and even as disappointing as Mr. Curry has been, Sweetney was worse)

2002 - # 3 Mike Dunleavy (the Pacers will find out soon enough why the Warriors gave up on him)

2001 - # 1 Kwame Brown (the worst top pick up to date)

2000 - # 2 Stromile Swift (the most anticipated in terms of potential and in terms of let downs)

1999 - # 5 Jonathan Bender (injuries played a role in derailing his career but he never really displayed enough on the court to convince anyone he could play in this league)

1998 - # 6 Robert Traylor (the least productive out of the top 10 picks in this draft. Off the court issues have played a part in dismantling his career)

1997 - # 7 Lorenzen Wright (still looking for his niche after a decade of playing in the NBA)

Here are some players whom many would have on their bust list but there is a reason why I chose not to include them.

2003 Darko Milicic - haven't been given the opportunity or playing time but has shown potential in limited stretches so the jury is still out on Darko.

2002 Jay Williams - a motorcycle accident ended his NBA career, not his level of talent.

1998 - Michael Olowokandi - had some stretches where he did perform well as a center but not overall in his career. Everything just happened to go downhill after he signed his fat contract.

Who's the biggest dissapointment in NBA history?nba draft lottery ,nba teams

Definitely Kwame Brown. He fumbles anywhere from 1-4 perfect passes out of bounds every game. And he tried to strangle Gilbert Arenas.

Kwame Brown's move is hilarious though. He catches the ball, left...right...left...right...left...rig... He charges wildly towards the basket, flops, and misses both free throws.
id say darko milicic and sam bowie

because in both of their drafts they were picked ahead of stars like micheal jordan, charles barkley, john stockton, dwayne wade, carmello anthony, %26amp; chris bosh.
danny ferry is doing a good job as GM tho
LeBron James because his fans were disappointed when the cavs was swept
Washburn has got to be near the top of the list. Darko...I still have hopes for him. One name you have to throw in the mix is Harold Miner.
a guy from syracuse ,but i forgot his name lots of talent but a waste of time.just like my answer.just remembered DEREK COLEMAN and PEARL WASHINGTON.how about fredrick weiss
1. sam bowie

2. chris washburn

3. michael olowokandi

4. joe smith

5. dennis hopson

6. bo kimble

7. steve stipanovich

8. kwame brown

9. danny ferry

10. billy owens

honorable mention: nicholaz tskitishvili, tractor traylor, shawn bradley, todd fuller, ed obannon, rafael araujo
Michael Jordan
Steve Bardo

Played in the Final Four for Illinois. Drafted by Atlanta. Didn't sign with them.

1991-92 Played 1 minute in one game for SA Spurs

1992-93 Played 175 minutes in 23 games for Dallas

1995-96 Played 123 minutes in 9 games for Detroit

So, Final Four to draft pick to 299 minutes in 33 games.

Welcome to the dark side of the NBA.
I think Darko and the Pistons should take lots of heat. The pistons took him over Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwyane Wade. Imagine if Wade was taken by the Pistons. Then he wouldn't have destroyed them in the 06 East Finals and its possible that the Pistons would have a couple of back to back Finals wins.
Definately Michael Olawalakandi; it was so much hype for him, then he flopped.
Sam Bowie %26amp;Kwame Brown

Sam Bowie because of who they COULD have had.

Kwame because he might be the worst #1 pick in any sport ever.

Len Bias is there but disappointing isn't the word for it

Darko is Not that big of a bust. Just terrible management by the Pistons. First, they SHould not have picked him over the talent they passed up. But you can forget that for now.

They took a player that needed time to develop... They took a risk, not smart but it's what they did. Now if you're going to do that, you MUST give the kid time to develop. They gave him 2 years of sitting on the bench and let him loose. Now, he's a Decent player %26amp; still improving for the Magic ( 8 poins, 5.5 rebounds, 1.75 blocks per game)
Darko

Kwame Brown. He was MJ's biggest disappointment. No wonder he called him a "fag".
Kwame Brown. He had the chance when he was along side Michael Jordan in Washington but didn't made a big stride out of it. He could have been a part of another Jordan era. Now with the Lakers, everybody's still on hang when will be his supposed power will be showing. He's kind a mediocre for some reason.
Len Bias....Dean Smith and Coach K had indicated

Len and MJ were the two best players ever

to come out of the ACC.

Sad but Cocaine OD stopped him from

showing what he could do in the NBA,

you may be talking about Len as being the

greatest if had played with Bird on the

Celtics.
